About the event

A very laid back and low key session aimed at runners and ramblers who have little or no navigational experience.

Starting with what is a map types of map , map information and conventional signs. Progressing onto an explanation of the grid system encompassing 4 and 6 figure grid references.

Setting of the map using your surroundings and with a magnetic compass.

You will also be shown how to use a magnetic compass to take a bearing from the map and the ground. Setting a bearing to follow from one point to another. Plus tips on using features to help with your navigation, use of linear/ line features point features etc..Use of technology as an aid to your navigational skills.

You will also gain knowledge of contours and how to interpret them when relating them from map to ground.

The session will culminate with you getting out of the hall and putting into practice the subjects covered during the day.

Price is £28pp which includes tea/coffee and biscuits, all equipment for the session.

You should bring a packed lunch or the Yorkshire Cycle Hub is five minutes away.
