About the event
The Goathland V (5) Trig Pairs Challenge for runners & walkers.
Starting from the Village Hall in the beautiful setting of Goathland, in The North Yorkshire Moors National Park, the home of the popular Police drama Heartbeat which was filmed there for many years.
Pairs of runners or walkers will navigate themselves around a course of circa 37 miles visiting five listed structures otherwise known as Triangulation Pillars.
The route is one of your own choosing as long as public rights of way are used and the Triangulation Pillars are visited in the order given to you on the morning of the event. The route is slightly longer and visits some different areas, however, it still retains its unique beauty.
Be assured that any route that you choose will have a variety of terrain, stunning views, and plenty of hills.
Participants will need to be self-supported however there will be CP locations providing some snacks and drinks.
Participants should be competent with maps and compasses, this is a challenge for the individual pairs taking part so there are no support crews, or support runners /walkers allowed. Pairs must both go to each CP and complete the full course together. Runners and walkers will have 15 hours to complete the event.
A couple of weeks before the event you will be sent the grid references for the CP and trig locations so that you can plot some potential routes...
On the day you will then be given the grid references for the CP and trig locations in the order that they have to be visited. There will also be a master map marked with a suggested route displayed in the village hall.
Registration will take place at Goathland Village hall from 7 am with a mass start at 8 am.
There are no parking facilities for those taking part at the village hall, please use the car parks in the village.
All finishers will receive a certificate, a cloth badge, and a memento of their achievement.
There will be a hot meal tea/ coffee provided at the end for all those taking part. This will include Vegan/Vegetarian options.
Participants must be over 18 on the day of the event.
