Othnesbery's Revenge MMXXIII

Circa ten miles of trail running over the North Yorkshire Moors National Park which in August will be resplendent with a covering of deep purple heather. . At the finish there will be a sting in the trail, Othnesbery will have its revenge.

A trail running event of around 10 miles on the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The route will take you through forest tracks over heather-clad moorland, which in August should be a stunning purple colour, and up one of the most recognisable hills in the country, on early mapping, it was even classed as a mountain...
Othnesbery, more usually known as Roseberry Topping has been linked to Odin chief of the Norse Gods, it would have been well known to the Vikings who lived throughout the area during the time of the Danelaw. Can you dig deep and conquer Othnesbery’s Revenge where a sting in the tail will await you at Odins Seat?
Places are limited to 50 competitors all finishers will receive a bespoke medal especially commissioned for the event and a certificate of their achievement which will feature an exceptional part of the route…

During the race, there will be a CP with water, fizzy pop, nibbles, sweets etc, there will also be the same at the end.
Each entrant must carry as a minimum: - Waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo. - Hat/buff/ gloves - Emergency bivvy bag. - Charged mobile phone which ideally should have OS maps/ locate and what3words loaded onto it. - At least 500 mils of fluid and at least 120 grams of emergency food. - Working compass  - OS Explorer 26 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors Map.
All will sign a disclaimer to say they have the correct kit, there may be a spot check along the route anyone not carrying the mandatory equipment will be withdrawn from the event.
The course will have Marshall’s and some flags placed out to aid with navigating however you should be competent with a map and compass.
There will be no refunds given however transfers can be made up to 1 week before the event.
Parking will be in the car park below Roseberry Topping where registration will take place.

All taking part must be over 16 years on the day of the event. Â Dogs are allowed however they must be kept on a lead and will start after the other participants. It should also be borne in mind there are some steep ascents and descents on the route
