       This coming Saturday 20/04/2024

SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trigs Ultra   Challenge. Circa 37 miles around the North York Moors. Enter as a pair or run or walk the route as a solo entrant.  You will be well looked after with ample refreshments at 3 checkpoints  and hot food at the end, however, you will not be m0llycoddled, you will navigate between the checkpoints using public footpaths and bridleways. There will be a mystery checkpoint which you will not be given the grid reference for until you are immersed in the event. At registration there will be a master map with a suggested route for you to mark onto your maps. Do not be put off by the navigational element of the event, we will not be asking you to look for a flag in the middle of nowhere...

So come and join us, fling that comfort blanket aside and enjoy  a day of hills, stunning views, and miles in the legs on the North York Moors. See this beautiful part of the country as spring begins to bring it back to life after the hiatus of the winter months.

Entries are via Si Entries, see the events page on this site.

                                                        Over the beautiful

                                                                     North York Moors

Let us help you...

SilverBackTrails came into being in the middle of 2020 with one aim to get people out running and walking over the North Yorkshire Moors and beyond. we started off with our Wednesday Wanders, meeting at a different location for a run of about 6 miles. As much as the running Wednesdays are about the history of the moors, and "runsploring" all its nooks and crannies. And of course, having a natter and a brew of some sort at the end...

Over two years on we are still wandering and finding new stuff to look at.

As well as Wandering we decided we wanted to build on this with some no-nonsense back-to-basic events and training.

Having completed many events of various distances from 10k to 450 miles, including UTMB, The Tunnel 200, HM 200  the inaugural National 3 Peaks Ultra, circa 450 miles, Cymru Lon las 253 and Line 300 I  wanted to get back to basics and let people enjoy their running with easy-to-enter events without all the bells and whistles... Hopefully, this is being achieved with our Revenge Series and Goathland V Trigs.

We also offer basic map sessions that should appeal to complete beginners and those who have forgotten previous learning.

New for this year, we will be providing personal mentoring and coaching for trail runners and ultra-distance runners.

If you live within easy reach of the North Yorkshire Moors then this may be for you.

Get in touch with us via the website to have a no-obligation discussion about your training needs and running aspirations.

From beginners to leathery campaigners and anyone else in between...

Hills, hard work and sweat are guaranteed...

One of the checkpoints on the Goathland V Trigs Ultra Challenge
A quick bottle refill and snack grab before heading across the moor to the next one...

Last year the Goathland V Trigs Ultra challenge took place on Saturday the 8th of April.

Clear skies and a light breeze greeted competitors, after a night of heavy rain. The course was slightly longer at 37 miles and there was a surprise checkpoint that participants only found out about whilst out on the ground. They also had to bring an item back from this bonus checkpoint, mind you they did get a little chocolate egg there as a little pick-me-up. In the picture above is Pete " Samosa" Goodwin, dishing out the goodies in the shades, with front runners Stephen Kirk, Anthony Gerundini, Neil Ridsdale, Matt Machouki and Ed Taylor Garrett.

In the picture below Louise Venables triumphntly reaching the finish at Goathland Village Hall.
